It occurs to me that I should add that KARDIAS in EPI KARDIAS AUTWN can be
construed as genitive singular and thus be parallel with EPI TWN DIANOIWN
AUTWN. The singular without the article in the first instance seems odd
with the plural WITH the article in the second, but I don't know that this
is unparalleled in OT parallelism or in the LXX, which is being cited here.
The text of Jer 38:33 (Hebrew MT 31:33) in LXX has EIS THN DIANOIAN AUTWN
and EPI KARDIAS AUTWN: DIDOUS DWSW NOMOUS MOU EIS THN DIANOIAN AUTWN KAI
EPI KARDIAS AUTWN GRAYW AUTOUS KAI ESOMAI AUTOIS EIS QEON KAI AUTOI ESONTAI
MOI EIS LAON. It may be and I guess it's likely that the author of Hebrews
is citing the Greek text of Jeremiah from memory and perhaps not even from
the LXX.
