This brings to mind something that I had found interesting. It is the
bi-directional style of writing ancient Greek noted on p. 40 of the volume
on "Accidence and Word Formation" by Moulton and Howard, and particularly
the name given to it:

"It is enough to say that in the earliest Greek inscriptions the
writing is from right to left; that this develops into what was
called BOUSTROFHDON, because it 'turns' at the end of
each line in the opposoite direction as the 'ox' does in
ploughing; and that of this in v/B.C. developed the left-to-right
style which Greece pass on to Rome and Rome to modern Europe."
