i hope this helps...
Rev 5:6a: KAI EIDON EN MESWI TOU QRONOU KAI TWN TESSARWN ZWiWN KAI EN MESWi TWN PRESBUTERWN ARNION hESTHKOS...
When I was trying to understand what this could mean it struck me as strange that a lamb would be standing in the middle of the throne. Can MESOS mean "in between"? Something like; And I saw in between the throne and the four living creatures and in the midst of the elders a lamb standing... I considered this possibility because EN MESWi is repeated after TESSARWN ZWiWN. If this is an incorrect translation, what is the reason for this repetition?
yes, MESOS can mean "inbetween". It can also mean "among" or perhaps fit equally well under the 1st meaning or the 2nd.(ref to BDAG pg.634-635)
Looking at the context of chapter 5, in the first verse we see the book is located in the right hand of Him who sits on the throne. No one was able to open it until an elder pointed out there is one who has overcome and is able to open the book and it's seals(v.5) then we get, Rev 5:6a: KAI EIDON EN MESWI TOU QRONOU KAI TWN TESSARWN ZWiWN KAI EN MESWi TWN PRESBUTERWN ARNION hESTHKOS...and I saw, in between (spatially! ref.BDAG pg635, w/double genitive"between")the throne and the four living creatures and in the midst (among)[ref. BDAG pg.635, w. gen. pl., in response to where] ( of ) the elders a lamb standing…
I think the translation you came up with is good; he is not standing “in the middle of” the throne. For he has not even come the throne yet to take (the book) from the right hand of the one who was on the throne(this occurs in verse 7) Rev 5:7: KAI HLQEV KAI EILHFEN EK THS DEXIAS TOU KAQHMENOU EPI TOU QRONOU.
I hope this serves as profitable for further understanding,
