DUNAMENOI EN BAREI EINAI hWS CRISTOU APOSTOLOI, ALLA EGENHQHMEN NHPIOI EN
MESWi hUMWN, hWS EAN TROFOS QALPHi TA hEAUTHS TEKNA.
No, that really would not work, EGENHQHMEN requires a predicate word, and
that is precisely what NHPIOI is in this clause. While we might
theoretically say that EGENHQHMEN EN MESWi hUMWN is meaningful by itself as
"we appeared/came to be among you," it's hard to see NHPIOI in its present
position as a vocative; it has to be "we appeared just like little children
in your midst."
