The gender is relevant because (a) KAQARIZWN would have to agree with a
masculine nominative somewhere implicit or explicit in larger sentence
context (that much, I suppose, is obvious?), and (b) because the neuter
participle cannot be used independently (accusative absolute) except with
impersonal verbs; the accusative absolute, although not uncommon in
classical Attic, is exceedingly rare in NT Koine. The neuter participle
must agree with an implicit or explicit substantive or itself be used as a
substantive.
