I was wondering about possible translations (sorry, and their
ramifications) of Rev. 6:11. Specifically the phrase it was said to
them "hina anapausontai eti chronon"

Most translations favor that "it was told them to rest for a little
longer", but does the text admit the idea that their question was
answered (ie. about how long judgment was to be delayed) and the purpose
of answering the question was to put the martyrs at ease?

thanks in advance, Ron Snider

My translation of Rev 6:11 goes:
And was-given to-them {the holy-ones}... each-One ... a White Robe ... and
it-was-told to-them {the holy-ones}... that they-will-rest yet ... a Small
Time ... until a-Number-should-be-complete ... and the-Ones of-Fellow-Slaves
of-them ... and the Brothers of-them ... the Ones-intended to-be-killed ...
as they were.

The holy-ones (saints) were killed sometime in the past and ask God to
avenge their death on the ones who killed them back on earth .. God tells
them to wait a short time and gives them white robes while they wait (rest)
... the fellow slaves and brothers of the saints (The 144,000) are later
killed (sacrificed) in Rev 14:12-16.

I think the "small time" is never quantified. The "completed number" of 6:11
in my opinion is 288,000.
