Dear Wieland,
Please excuse the delay in my reply. Today is the first day I've been
able to connect
with this resource since Carl first posted the address. The previous
days I received
the dreaded "page will not load" message. Even today I was only able to
make a few queries before the system refused to reply to queries.
The way it works is this: you type in your query in Latin transcription
(or in the
Greek line using Latin transcription enclosed in curly braces with a G
at the front
and using the transcription system at the _end_ of the long encoding
link from the
help link at the bottom of the screen. Then press enter and you will
shortly receive
a new screen with the information you desire. It is very simple. If
you click the
"gifs" button, you will be able to see the Greek in the output. There
are also fonts
to download but I haven't been able to try these yet.
Except for the internet connection not having sufficient bandwidth
(which may not
be a problem for you in Europe), this is a wonderful tool.
Here is the section on Greek from the encoding file:
