It never ceases to amaze me how so many humans feel so compelled to annouce
their departure from a mailing list. Were I to decide this list was no
longer of interest to me, I would simply leave, without assuming that my
departure would be of any great consequence to anyone else and certainly not
worthy of a formal announcement.
I'm afraid you have misunderstood the purpose of this list. There are lists
aplenty where the grandest of theological discussions (and even violent
disagreements) may be readily had. This list stands as an island of
peacefulness in a sea of disagreement, and its moderators are both well
qualified and quite capable of reining in the prodigal discussions. In fact
that is their job, for which they have volunteered and for which they
receive no pay and little thankfulness.
In the future I would suggest that before joining a list, one should read
the charter carefully and understand the purpose of the list so as to be
undisappointed by its contents after joining. This list is for the purpose
of discussing Greek, and only Greek, and not for the often contentious
theological debates that surround ambiguous passages of the Greek New
Testament, and that is clearly spelled out in its charter.
