Not only is Eric Weiss's resources exhausted, but I think we are all getting 
weary of the same thing being said over and over again. It is at times like 
these that we turn to theology or other discussions beyond the scope.

I think we all agree that the perfect generally indicates an action that is 
complete but issues into a continuing state or condition. Whether the completed 
action is emphasized or the continuing state is a matter of reading the 
context. It seems that most translators seem to opt here for the completed action. 
I would suggest that does not completely rule out the following state. It is 
important to remember that the action does not continue but the status, result, 
etc.

May I also suggest that unless there is other evidence we have not seen, let 
us drop this thread lest we weary some of our members so much that they go 
elsewhere.
