Because the verb in the sentence ("you" plural "were") is plural. The plural in AQEOI refers to the
subject (you plural) rather than to "gods." Also the participle APHLLOTRIWMENOI (alienated) and the
adjective XENOI (strangers) have the plural ending (OI), agreeing with the plural subject of the sentence.
