Thank you, Carlton, for your reply to my query. Your response answered
in general terms my basic question. I was, however, hoping for a bit
more detail.

>Larry, There is a lot of difference between Nestle 21 and N-A27. First,
the
>text is the same as the UBS4.

I assume that you mean by this statement that the text of N-A27 is the
same as the UBS4. I was already aware of this fact, and that the
difference between these two publications (aside from matters of
punctuation?) has to do with their respective critical apparati.

The apparatus in N-A27 is what I am specifically interested in. As I
stated in my initial post, "I am wondering if there is enough difference
between the critical apparatus in the 21st and 27th editions of the
Novum Testamentum Graece to warrant purchasing N-A 27 in hard copy."

>The apparatus has been thoroughly revised. I would think you would have
a
>number of questions trying to use the old apparatus with the current
text.

Actually, the text of my electronic version of N-A27 tracks quite well
with my hard copy edition of Nestle 21, at least in the portions I have
examined. I'm not saying that I have done an extensive, systematic
comparison of the 21st and 27th editions of the Novum Testamentum
Graece, but in the passages that I have compared to date, the text is
the same. It was this fact that prompted me to post to B-Greek my query
regarding the critical apparatus of N-A27.

You contrasted the apparatus of Nestle 21 with that of N-A27 with the
simple statement "The apparatus has been thoroughly revised." How so?
What is the nature of this thorough revision? Are you referring to the
number of variants listed? Or, perhaps, the symbols employed in the
apparatus? I'm not asking for a detailed list of differences (whether of
number of variants or specific symbols), but I would like a bit more
information, if it's not too much to ask.

Respectfully,
Larry G. Overton
