[B-Greek] Christianos

The pastor was defining the word "Christianos" by its etymology. It is my understanding that the Latin ending "ianos" started to mean "little" about 300 years after Christ. The primary meaning of the suffix prior to that meant "belonging to" or "slave of." Some people think that it would have been demeaning to be called a slave of Christ but the prophets were also called slaves of God.

Hi! I am new to the forum and am definitely not any kind of a Greek scholar.
However; I do love word studies and digging around a little bit. Every once
in awhile I run across a question that bothers me because I can't understand.
So I am hoping you all will be patient with me and let me make stupid
statements and ask dumb questions :).

My first question: I am on a forum where a pastor is trying to define
christianos as meaning "little christs" - what is your take on that? Anyone want to
give me a nice concise definition for christianos? Thanks a bunch!!!

Nancy :)
