I think some confusion has been introduced by the dual
use of "relative clause." A relative clause can begin
with a relative PRONOUN, in which case it will be
adjectival. A relative clause can also begin with a
relative ADVERB, in which case it will be adverbial.
But your question initially was about a relative
PRONOUN. And in those instances, the clauses will be
