Lest there be any avoidable confusion, inasmuch as I'm as careless a
composer of e-mail as any other, my illustrative sentence should have been
formulated with a "than" rather than a "that"--so that it reads: "I'm going
to let Dale, who'll give you a much better explanation than I can offer,
describe a couple instances of this 'adverbial' function of relative
clauses ..."
