Hi Jimmy,
There are others as well. A grand ol' favorite for me is edited by a
fellow by the name of Robertson Nicoll, but has many contributors, and
is called "Expositor's Greek Testament, 5 Vols." Just a couple weeks
ago I saw in a used books store a very old copy before Hendrickson got a
hold of the printing and it was one volume on Acts and it was probably
300 to 400 pages. This reprint, however, has been sized down. The
first volume is the Gospels, for example. The first two volumes are
fairly thick and then the last three are about 1.5 inches thick. I
think, I can't straightly remember, the text is the Westcott-Hort 1881.
In any case, you will not find much difference from a current UBS/NA
text. The GNT text is above the work of the scholars, unlike many
commentaries who assume you have a copy in your other hand.
Here is a link on Christianbook.com:
http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?item_no=30297&netp_

In my opinion, there is no better $49.99 spent on a good set of books
for an avid user of the GNT.
So, on Erdman's site, they wanted $55 per volume. You could get all of
these for $55 with shipping :).
There are others out there. I have and use, in Logos/Libronix format a
set of valuable books called "Classic Commentaries on the Greek New
Testament" who are by staples in the GNT category: Lightfoot, Westcott,
Swete, Mayor, Milligan, Sloman, Bond, Ethelbert (some names you may know
and others not). The sale price is 199.95 on Logos' site for that
(http://www.logos.com/products/details/1871) however I personally can
sell that one to you quite a bit cheaper and have it dropped shipped to
your home. But, in all reality, I still would rather spend the money on
the "Expositor's Greek Testament, 5 Vols." You can find all of the
individual books in this set at www.abebooks.com or other used book
exchanges.
Baker's NT Commentary is also a very good aid! A work I used in college
quite a bit! http://www.logos.com/products/details/1777
Good luck!

Subject: [B-Greek] Question about the TNIGTC (The new international
Greektestament commentary)
Hi all
I have a question, I was looking for commentaries or a series that
is
geared to the GNT. I found only one, it's called The new international
Greek
testament commentary published by Eedmans. They are fairly expensive
and the
series only has approx. 7 - 10 books done so far, I'm not sure of the
exact
number. One is Hebrews another is the Pastoral epistles. They are all
done by
different commentators, I think anyhow. The one in Heb's is done by
Paul
Ellingworth, which also says translation consultant UBS. Has anyone on
the list
bought any of these, and have they been a great help? Are they worth
buying?
Heb's is approx. $45.00. I am just asking how these commentaries helped
you with
Greek as a Greek student, and has been a plus to buy for you.
To anyone who has doctrinal points, please make them to me off list, I
wouldn't mind that.
But, in keeping with, or in the protocol of B-Greek moderators I humbly
ask
that you keep it strictly non-doctrinal with the list. Thanks in
advance!
