Allen does not recommend the 'ah' sound for anything except alpha.  He
recommends an long open /o/ sound for omega, and a short /o/ for omicron.
The confusion of /o/ and /a/ is mainly an American phenomenon that no
educated Englishman like Allen would ever make, and certainly would not
recommend.
