Maurice gave as meanings of APAUGASMA
a) "effulgence",
b) "reflection",
c)"image"

The element we have to remember is AP-, the same as re- in reflexion.
That this element is important in our text, can be seen in CARAKTHR THS
hUPOSTASEWS AUTOY, where CARAKTER stands also for a kind of "reflection".

So we have that Christ is the reflexion of God's DOXA.
We are reading the letter to the Hebrews. So Maurice is absolutely right in
referring to the Hebrew word kabod, that expresses the overwhelming
impression of God's presence (cfr. 2 Chr 5: 14) and radiance, brightness,
radiant light and effulgence (to quote the translations quoted by Maurice).
It seems that DOXA is connected with Sanskrit tejas (glowing fire with
magical potential) - if the study quoted by Bauer is right.
Anyway there are many texts that connect DOXA with brightness and fire.
