If you have access to the journal The Bible Translator, you'll find a 3 page
article on this in volume 48,4, pp 442-4.

A very brief summary would be to say yes, there is definitely an allusion to
the same phrase in Gen 4:24, and yes, the more likely interpretation is 77
rather than 70 times 7. Most lexicons agree on this, and the 70 times 7 is a
carry over from the too literal Greek to English KJV or similar very literal
old versions.
