Subject: [B-Greek] Dead Sea Scrolls and Influence on Understanding the NT
text
THE SEMITIC BACKGROUND OF THE NEW TESTAMENT by Joseph
A. Fitzmeyer, S.J., has several essays of his re: how
verses/words/sayings in the DSS may shed light on the
meanings of certain NT passages. ISBN 0802843441.
Some NT verses/texts he addresses include: Mk 7:11/Mt
15:15; Lk 2:14; Mt 22:41-46; Lk 16:1-13; I Cor 11:10;
2 Cor 6:14-7:1; Heb 7:1.
There's also the ongoing discussion of how Paul's
phrase "works of the Law" (esp. in Galatians) relates
to the Qumran document known as MMT (Miqsat Maase
Ha-Torah )that uses this phrase and has been hailed as
a breakthrough for understanding what Paul may have
been referring to. You can find various discussions of
this on the Internet by searching for, e.g., "Paul MMT
works of the law".
Happy reading!
