The scribe of Ephesians for P46 probably harmonized with 
Galatians.  Scribes normally harmonize.  Further, scribes also tend to 
change difficult readings to simpler.  And, you are right, "fruit of light" 
here is odd, to say the least.  But note that in Eph 5 the fruit of light 
is contrasted with the fruitlessness of darkness.  So, just as living in 
darkness (Christlessness) is fruitless, so too living in light (Christ) is 
fruitful.

It seems to me that fruit of the light implies those things produced in 
life which is in connection with the light- i.e., Christ.  The 9th verse of 
Eph 5 continues after the odd phrase to describe what such a life produces.
