This could be bordering outside the boundaries of this list, but I hope you
will bear with me, and will reply :)

In 2 Thess 2:3, 2:6 and 2:8 the word APOKALUPTW is used. I am wondering
about the possible sense of that word.

As many (all?) would know, there are some who identify the figure of 2 Thess
2 with the Pope or papacy. However, I wonder if this is consistent with the
usage of APOKALUPTW. It seems to me that such an identification would
require a kind of gradual revealing (APOKALUPTW), where he is somehow
revealed slowly over time, yet it is not really plainly evident until many
hundreds of years have passed.

To me this seems a different kind of use of APOKALUPTW than other places in
the NT, especially when it concerns the 2nd coming revelation of Christ, eg
2 Thess 1:7. It wouldn't seem to make so much sense if Christ were to be
revealed in the same way some say the antichrist figure of 2 Thess 2 is
revealed.

Anyhow, I know that the theological and interpretive discussions are out of
bounds of this list. What I'd like to know is the possible range of the use
of APOKALUPTW in 2 Thess 2, and I have just given the other background
information to help you understand my question :)

Thanks
