No.  The Byzantine text tradition is simply one of the text traditions that 
developed. Most scholarship today relies on a critical text which attempts to 
reconstruct what might approximate to the original by means of various 
criteria.  One of these is that a reading not be limited to one geographical area.  
The Byzantine text represents a text which evolved in the eastern churches under 
the Byzantine Empire -- hence the name.
