Before I was admitted as a mature student to read Theology with Classical
Hebrew and Koine Greek, I had to show I was capable of staying the course.
They accepted my A levels in French and German, O level Russian, and most
persuasively of all, O level Latin. O Level exams were abolished in Britain
many years ago, being replaced with "GCSE" (General Certificate of Secondary
Education) for pupils leaving school at 15/16.

So ISTM that a Certificate of at least First Year in any Classical language
 will suffice.
