My copy of Machen is a photocopy from Canada. I managed to get a copy of an
answer key from AMG, but they are no longer ALLOWED to sell it.

Prentice Hall has a new modern version of Machen that just came out, and they
own the rights to the older copy, now, too. They sell the study guide that
contains an answer key as well, but not the cheap AMG key. It's probably easier
to order it from Amazon as someone suggested.

I like Machen's text VERY much. It is similar to a my old high school Latin
text.

My sons and I have tackled many languages over the years and have learned
that no book is a PERFECT book. If you want to learn a language, collect a pile
of them :-)

If any book has multiple printings and is still being printed after 50 years
of use, GRAB it, USE it, IGNORE anyone who says it's a BAD book. There's got
to be SOMETHING useful in there :-) All of our favorite language books were
printed before 1950, when children ACTUALLY learned languages. Those old fogies
must have known something :-) Children were fluent back then :-) I know Machen
wasn't written for children, but it uses the techniques that were used in
children's texts at the time.

If you want some videos, software, flashcard, etc to support Machen, check
out this link. The videos use a modern pronunciation which is a whole other
topic of debate :-)

Greetings,
I've seen the Machen book at Amazon and other places for between $50-$70 so
when I found a 1923 printing for $6 at Half-Priced Books I thount I had a
bargain.
The book is small, about 287 pages and rather helpful, but, it does not have
an answer key to the end of chapters exercises!!
What (if any) is the difference between my $6 book and the $70 book (if
anyone knows)? Does anyone have an answer key they'd like to share with a brother?
