Raymond,
I'm obviously no expert, but I REALLY like the little paperback "Teach
Yourself New Testamant Greek" by D F Hudson. It doesn't use accents which you might
not like :-(
It presents grammar right up front, no holds barred, unlike some of the other
smaller, accent free, inexpensive paperbacks.
It is a book to be memorized rather than providing LOTS of exercises. It
would be too hard to write on the subway, I'd think anyway :-)
It's $14.95 and has an answer key in the back.
ISBN# 0-8442-3789-2
It was written as an attempt to provide a textbook easier for students who
spoke English as a second language. The KJV grammar was too hard for them to
master along with Greek, I guess :-)
It's my favorite Greek book, but it just doesn't have enough exercises for us
:-(

Anyway, of course I realize textbooks are not designed for use in Tokyo
subways...;-)
