FWIW,
The following statement from BDAG supports Troels' suggestion
it is to be borne in mind that LOGIKOS means spiritual not only in the sense
of PNEUMATIKOS, but also in contrast to 'literal', w. the mng.
'metaphorical' (cp. Pel-Leg. p. 20: the bishop is the shepherd TWN LOGIKWN
PROBATWN TOU CRISTOU; Eus., HE 1, 1, 4 EK LOGIKWN LEIMWNWN; s. DMcCartney,
ZNW 82, '91, 128-32, w. emphasis on Hellenic connection of reason and verbal
communication)

The first thing you should do is to research this word
and find its semantic boundaries. If, during this
research, you have found several usages for
"figuratively," then by all means please provide such
documentation, since you appear to be introducing a
new semantic meaning to LOGIKOS.
The idea behind the usage in Romans is simply that the
service is one that involves one's mental facility
(the mind). Some translate this, which is your
"reasonable" service. Reasonable (the use of one's
reason) of course being a function of the mind.
Service should result from one's mental
transformation, not just outward acts.
The same in Peter's passage seems appropriate. To grow
up, one must desire the word that targets and
transforms one's mind.
In both instances, I would recommend you look for how
one's mind participates or is involved in the service
or desire for growth.
