i'm not saying this to contradict what you said in any way but i just wanted to make the point that from what i've noticed, very often the grammatical gender DOES agree with the biological gender. but the argument that this is a hard and fast "rule" is what needs to be (and is being) challenged. if this doesn't hold in all cases, then the argument that grudem et al are making doesn't hold much water. i just wanted to interject that often it seems that they are not at odds (which probably explains the tendency to make this argument, i.e., the grudem et al argument). thanks!
