Mounce states in his Basic Greek Grammar that it is
best to study the Noun system first, and to withhold
discussion of the Verb until much later. He says that
this makes it easier to learn Greek.
I have recently bought a copy of Athenaze, an
introduction to Ancient Greek. In this, they take the
opposite approach, mixing Nouns, Verbs, and all other
parts of speech even from chapter 1.
For those who have studied and/or taught both ways,
which would you recommend: Nouns only before studying
Verbs, or a mixture from the beginning? And of course, why?
