The original message never came through the list to me (though I did get a
direct msg. from Mitch), so I've waited to respond.

Why should this bother you? Of course it is an ongoing debate (just as many
other areas of biblical studies). One goes to my site to find out primarily
what I believe is so and then must weigh that against what others have to
say.

And someone else added:

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. One doesn't teach first year Greek by
exposing the beginning student to the whole range of options. Of course I'm
sure that you also noted that what you read is only part of the
presentation. My students know that this is a disputed question. 

I don't think that Wallace's treatment is particularly more "balanced"
(unless by "balanced" you mean "more traditional"; actually his discussion
of aspect is not nearly as good as his discussion of the cases and the
article) though it is obviously not a first year textbook, so the comparison
is hardly appropriate.
