Perhaps an event 'actually occurring in several times and place(s)' is more
accurate when the iterative is in view. Matt 3:6 - EBAPTIZONTO EN TW IORDANH
POTAMW hUP AUTOU - They were being baptized in the Jordan River by him. The
imperfect pictures an action (baptism) occurring several times (unless you
want to say they were all baptised by John at the same time!). The
Aktionsart is iterative (it repeats/ occurs several times), yet the aspect
is imperfective.

What confuses me here is how can an event "actually
occur in time and space" in an iterative manner? Does
any thing "actually" occur iteratively?
