No, George I am not jesting. When I give the verse number that is just
shorthand for the Greek words in the riddle.

Incidentally, I apologize if anyone takes my previous post as disrespectful
or talking down to the group because that was not my intention. I am very
well aware that the majority of people on this list know a whole lot more
Greek than I presently know or will probably ever know in the future. Please
take my rhetoric as a friendly challenge to think what this verse really
means and how it should be parsed. According to my understanding of the
Greek grammar in verse 13:18 the traditional translations in English bibles
are simply incorrect. What I am saying is that the verse does not positively
state that the number of the man is 666. The number 666 is "a-number" of
him - not "the number." And so far, nobody has presented a compelling
argument that my translation is wrong.
