Hi all
My name is Jimmy Montesano, the Lord did a wonderful work in my life,
namely
by calling me one of His own approx. 12 yrs ago. I been studying very
heavily on my own, without schooling for the last three yrs and want to
learn
Greek. There are four of us starting Bill Mounces book on the 19th of June.
I
heard of your list and wanted to join you all, to learn what I could from
others
and to fellowship over the web a bit.
Can I ask a few questions?
1st
Is there a page or site that will show me the exact or standard English
letters to put in Greek letters place? Like W for omega & so on.
2nd
Any tips for starting Mounces book?
We are all going to start our first class as an overview of chapters 1 - 5.
Because 1 & 2 are just reading, 3 is basically the alpha four is syllables
and a bit Vocabulary & 5 is English.
Is it possible to try for 2 chapters a week thereafter, at least shoot for
it, I know 6 is a big ch.
3rd
I notice on some words they space letters apart, E psilon is there a reason
for that?
I downloaded the flashcard page with vocabulary, that really, really helped
me, in 2 days I got up to ch. 6 vocabulary, Praise the Lord!
Well, thanks you all for being here for me.
God bless, Jimmy

Hey Jimmy,
Here is the site that has the information that you requested.
_http://www.ibiblio.org/bgreek/_ (http://www.ibiblio.org/bgreek/) I would recommend that
you purchase the "Parson's Greek" CD. It will help you with pronunciation.
If you are constantly changing the way that you pronounce the Greek words it
will be harder for you to put the material to memory. This CD is only
$29.00.

Dr. Bill Mounce also has lectures archived on the net. I believe that the
lectures cover every chapter in the book. And it is a free resource.

The key for you is to be consistent, and persistent. And be sure to take
your time and pace yourself. If you have the workbook Xerox the pages and use
the exercises as tests. You should review "every day!" Please do not breeze
past the first few chapters, because learning the Greek Alphabet is very
important.
After you get past those beginning chapters, I read that you are grouping
them together, take one chapter at a time. Take notes! And then when you feel
ready, use the exercises in the workbook as a test. I would Xerox those
workbook pages.
Get plenty of scrap paper. Writing things out seems to help with
memorization.
Take care.
