Well, sometimes.  Then again you can run across something that seems to
make no sense -- probably because it's some kind of idiom.  Can you
explain

Het blijkt dus dat "allen" of "alles" in de Bijbel wel degelijk iets
anders kan betekenen dan allen of alles in absolute zin. Daarbij laten we
de Bijbel niet buikspreken.

"It seem thus that 'everyone' or 'all' in the Bible might well intend
something other than everyone or all in the absolute sense." is fairly
clear. what is the following sentence?
