Fred,
I think we have to be very careful here.
If we compare Nm 14: 21-23 with the verse from Ps 95 we find in Hb 3: 11, we
see that THN KATAPAUSIN MOU there means the land where the Jews would find
rest after the labours in the desert. MOU would mean the rest given *by
God*.
Unless Psalm 95 adds the notion to it that those Jews would not go in into
the eternal rest.
Then we find KATAPAUSIN as the rest of God after the six days of creation.
And then we have KATAPAUSIN as the rest the (Christian) believer will get
(or is getting, Hb 4: 3 EISERCOMEQA).
So THN KATAPAUSIN MOU does not mean the same conception throughout the
chapters of Hb.
*If* we conclude that there is nothing in the Greek by which we can tell if
he considered the length of God's rest and that of the seventh day to be
equal, there are so many incertainties between the various kinds of
KATAPAUSIS and the way the writer combines them that we cannot be certain
that he really considered those lengths to be equal.
