[B-Greek] Memorizing definitions

Hi all
    I have a questions, I'm almost at the 50% mark of vocabulary of Mounce's
first year GNAT book. When memorizing, should I try and keep every word he
gives for the lexical form in my head? For instance, for Anthropos he gives
Man, mankind, person, people, humankind, Human being.
That is one of the larger definitions he'll give. But even with Amen he
gives Verily, truly, amen, so let it be. I've been doing this so far, is that how
most you all have done it?
Do you all keep or retain all those definitions for most or all words, or
what's a realistic approach?
Is that the standard way of memorizing definitions?
Or, ANQROPOS = man
AMHN = amen
Or somewhere in between?
The reason I ask, things are hard enough, I don't want to do more then is
necessary.
