Actually, they are not even glosses. Rather, as is noted in the
introduction to the dictionary, they are lemmata, that is to say, the
English words that the translators of the KJV thought were the best
equivalents in English of whatever Hebrew or Greek term was being
lemmatized. So Strong's not only does NOT give glosses/definitions of
Greek or Hebrew words; what words are found there as the "definitions"
of Greek and Hebrew words are Elizabethan English words and therefore
are liable to be misdirect anyone who thinks these "definitions" will
give them some idea of the meaning of the Hebrew or Greek terms they are
set against, since many words used by Elizabethans now have meanings
quite different from what the Elizabethans meant by them.
