Dear List,
I would like thoughts on the following vocatives and nominatives:
2:14 - ANDRES IOUDAIOI along with KAI OI KATOIKOUNTES IEROUSALHM PAVTES;
2:22 - ANDRES ISRAHLITAI;
2:29 - ANDRES ADELPHOI;
along with the phrase in 2:36 - PAS OIKOS ISRAHL.
I am of think these are the same terms for "Jew." Thus, Peter in his Pentecost
Sermon is addressing Jews and Jews only. Also is there any connection of the use
of the above names of address as to refer to locales? For example:
ANDRES IOUDAIOI KAI OU KATOIKOUNTES IEROUSALHM is the inner circle with ANDRES
ISRAHLITAI the next circle, but including the ANDRES IOUDAIOI, followed by the
outermost circle, ANDRES ADELPHOI, which would include the first two names. Also
would OIKOS ISRAHL include all of the three names above?
En Xristw,
Rev. Bryant J. Williams III
