To illustrate what I mean by "pure" Erasmian and "non-pure" (i.e.
diphthongy, drawly, wide-mouthy, etc.) Erasmian, I have recorded the
names of the letters of the Greek alphabet, saying each one twice,
first in the "non-pure" version and then in the "pure" version (I know
my pronunciation still needs improvement, but I hope this sample
conveys my point).

Again, by "pure" I don't mean "good", "nice", "cool" and by "non-pure"
I don't mean "ugly", "bad", "corrupt". I use the word "pure" in a way
somewhat like how Hudson uses it in the following quote from his Teach
Yourself New Testament Greek in his description of the letter eta: "a
pure vowel not found in standard English; like a Yorkshireman's
'eh'..." (p. 4).
