This is _very_ old hat -- twelve years old, in fact.
The original poster was reading the back cover of the second edition of the
paperback version ( wrongly dated 1992 in the amazon.com database ).
Originally published in paperback in 1992, my copy is the " second edition
with corrections 1994 ", and carries the same "promise".
I think we can all remember those golden days of the eighties and early
nineties when publishing houses were falling over one another to start what
-- from the back cover blurbs -- sounded like mouth-watering series.
Isn't there a tag beginning: " Eheu, ......."?
