Cranfield's commentary is pretty much a crib of Vincent Taylor's work in the old
MacMillian series. Both are dated. Both were written before the relative
explosion in Markan studies that began in the 70s and has not stopped since.

Far too little distinction for my taste between Mark's portrayal of Jesus what
the historical Jesus actually said and did. But Lane's exegesis of Mk 13 is
worth the price of the book.

The most recent full commentaries on the Greek text are those of R.T. France
(Eerdmans) and C.A. Evans (Word). Evan's commentary is Vol 2, and picks up
where Guelich's commentary left off (Guelich died before completing vol. 2).
Evan's is hard at work writing a replacement for Vol. 1.
Soon we will have Aldella Collins Hermenia Commentary on Mark.
