I checked the Textus Receptus, and, sure enough, it has the plural ASPAZONTAI. So you aren't the first person to be bothered by the singular.

What's bothering me here is "aspazetai." Since there are two persons who
are greeting, why is the verb singular? After all, they are not neuter
surely.
