Hello everyone.I wonder what everyone might have to say regarding the merits
of the following quote by Joseph A. Baird...."'Eternal fire,' for example,
does not necessarily mean a fire that burns endlessly (quantitative meaning), but
may also mean a fire 'peculiar to the realm and the nature of God'
(qualitative meaning)."Thanks for any contributions you might have."

Hello Gabe,
I have enjoyed, for many years, reading and re-reading, The Fire That
Consumes, Edward W. Fudge, © 1983 by Verdict Publications. A definitive 500 page work
on hellfire and damnation : ). He has hundreds of citations, from Gen 1 to
Rev 22:14.

E.W. Fudge, "One might suppose it a fairly simple matter to read traditional
orthodoxy's major works, reduce its statements to straightforward definition,
then set down in a clear and understandable fashion the arguments on which the
doctrine of eternal torment actually rests. Instead, the person who walks
through the library doors and starts pulling the cards under "Punishment, Final"
quickly identifies with Lewis Carroll's unsuspecting lass who cheerily
followed the white rabbit down his hole into a world where things really were not
what they seemed."

Despite this, Fudge comes to definitive answers from the Scripture.

I will find some and repost.

Warmest regards,
