Clement of Alexandria: "Agape is truly heavenly food,
a rational banquet."
The above is from Everett Ferguson, EARLY CHRISTIANS
SPEAK (3rd Edition). Chapter 11, The Love Feast
(Agape), quote XI.2. Page 125.
He groups all of the citations together, and says the
quotes from Clement come from INSTRUCTOR 2.1.4,3-4;
5,3; 6,1-7,1 ; 9,3), which I assume are Book, Volume,
Chapter and verse(s) numbers for the work entitled
"Instructor." I.e., all are from Book 2, Volume 1, and
then Chapter 4, verses 3-4; Chapter 5, verse 3;
Chapter 6, verse 1 -> Chapter 7, verse 1; and Chapter
9, verse 3.
I don't have access to a Greek text of Clement of
Alexandria, but I'm wondering if the word translated
as "rational" is LOGIKOS. Can anyone check into it for
me? Thanks!
