Hi all
I have another question, (I can't wait for the day I have some answers),
I have just started verbs, five chapters, Bill Mounce holds off on them for
a while compared with your standard first year Greek class'
Anyhow, I am up to chapter 20 my question is on tense stems, we have
addressed so far the Present active tense stem, Future active tense stem. The
question is, say LU = loose, is this stem only used in certain tense forms, like
only the Present?
Bill uses what he calls the Master verb chart and in it under tense stems
he'll say Present or Future active, aorist active, aorist passive, perfect
active & perfect passive. Are there stems that are only in one category, say
Present? Is there a list of all words that are Present active tense stems, or
other tense stems? Or am I not understanding yet what makes up a tense stem, or
what stem actually is? He just started verb roots and he said some roots are
the same as the stem, but for sure not all of them. Like LU, is the same root
as the present stem. Also EX, as in EXW = I have, hold this is also the same
stem and root = EX
Grace and Peace to You, Jimmy Montesano
