Can anyone share any and ALL links to any type of supplement for the Machen
text book?
I put my son back into the "Hey Andrew" series to tackle accents, but soon he
will need to move back into a grown up book to finish the basic grammar. We
have tried LOTS of books, Attic and Koine, and I think Machen is our best bet
right now, but could use all the supplementation available. My son thrives off
of dry/thorough explanations and intensive drill before moving on to a new
chapter, and so do I.
The "Athenaze" book was a total flop for us :-( I know a lot of people here
say Attic before Koine, but that hasn't worked for us. There seem to be a lot
more self study materials for Koine and the reduced vocabulary leaves us more
time for concentrating on grammar. The Athenaze book was the only Attic book I
could get an answer key for and the immersion/reading method does NOT work for
us as a CORE curriculum!!
Are there any 1st edition Machen books available anywhere cheap, anymore? We
have a 1st edition photocopy, and a second edition book that doesn't always
match our answer key. I'd like to buy two new paperback 1st editions if I can
find them cheap enough.
Also does anyone have any resource suggestions or tips for learning to
write/compose in Koine?? My son has found great value in Latin composition and would
like to do the same in Greek.
