Could someone help me with Porter? Are you talking about S.E. Porter or
someone else? On what issues does Caragounis fault Porter?
Thomas J. Kraus is correct that personal taste is just that and no more. If
you are not impressed by diachronic analysis Caragounis' hypothesis isn't
going to get a fair hearing.
I agree with Wieland Willker there are lots of useful details in Caragounis'
book for those who have the patience to wade through it but his central
project has all the earmarks of a lost cause. You can learn a lot by reading
books like this if you have the time.
