[B-Greek] Blass-Debrunner-Funk

BDF is in fact an excellent resource, one that is ultimately, when
all things are said, more useful (in my opinion, at least) than GGBB.
I would far rather have it available on my hard drive for
consultation alongside an on-line GNT than GGBB, which has always
seemed to me to be focused overmuch on how one gets from the Greek
text to some English equivalent expression. But i fear that BDF is
not going to be of such great value to students of NT Greek who have
no foundation in the earlier Classical Attic Greek; the original
German Blass-Debrunner was deliberately cast that way for students
who had been well-trained in Classical Attic in the Gymnasium or
other sort of European secondary school. I've always had the sense
that students of NT Greek who know only the Koine of the NT don't
find BDF particularly useful. Unless one has acquired a pretty solid
grounding in Greek grammar, BDF may not be the tool of choice. It
might be well to thumb through a hard copy for several minutes before
deciding whether or not an electronic BDF is really worth one's while.
