Sorry to bother the list with a trivial question that does not even
relate to a word found in the NT.
The normal accentuation of ADELFOS (brother) has the accent on the
ultimate: ADELFO/S, but LSJ give for a composite of this word,
PATRADELFOS (uncle on the father's side): PATRA/DELFOS.
In P.Ryl. 119 the original editors print the dative plural as
PATRADELFOI=S, suggesting a nominative PATRADELFO/S, while the Duke
Databank has PATRADE/LFOIS, in line with LSJ. Did the editors of the
Ryland papyri made a slip under influence of ADELFO/S or is the
accentuation of such words a matter of dispute?
Regards,
Dirk Jongkind
