And Iesous said to them: "The sons of the bridechamber are not able to fast in which time the bridegroom is with them? To so long a time as they have the bridegroom with them they are not able to fast." [THE WILL (A Plain Translation of The New Testament from Greek to English)]

The Greek word DUNATEW with its other forms is about 217 times used in the New Testament. I agree with Mitch but we have to be consistent in translation and it is the duty of the teacher, evangelist, and/or preacher to explain, clarify, etc.

  May God bless you all.

It's either "be able" or "can": " ... they cannot fast, can they, while they have the bridegroom with them? ..." or "... they aren't able, are they ...?"
