I have my beginning first-year students buy:
A Concise Dictionary of New Testament Greek
(Paperback)
by Warren C. Trenchard Publisher: Cambridge University
Press;
ISBN: 0521521114
or
Shorter Lexicon of the Greek New Testament (Hardcover)
by F. Wilbur Gingrich (Editor), Frederick William
Danker (Editor) Publisher: University Of Chicago
Press; 2nd edition
ISBN: 0226136132
When they get to second-year Greek, I have them buy
BDAG, because although it is expensive, it is a
life-time investment, since it's updated only about
every 25 years or so. I give them the option of
getting the hard-copy or the electronic editions
available in BibleWorks or Logos formats
